Openness in Education

Found a cMOOC on Openness in Education; it’s already in its fourth week, but registration is still open.  As I wait for the cMOOC on the Future of Higher Education to get moving, it will be interesting to see how this platform works as compared to Coursera or Udacity.

First impression, though:  aesthetically it is nowhere near what the xMOOCs do.  That is to be expected, but should also be mentioned.  Appearance makes a difference, especially on the Internet.  I worry that interest will be limited to the 18% who are seriously motivated rather than achieving the “free and ubiquitous” that is often paired with Open Online Courses.  At the same time, it’s a heck of a course topic with the top thinkers in that field, Siemens and McGreal.
